How We Teach

Our ethos is to run professional yet fun classes.  We treat everyone equally as young actors.  We expect discipline and a positive attitude from everyone.  We expect everyone to be polite and courteous to staff, teachers and each other.  We will not tolerate disruptive behaviour of any kind.  We operate a 3 strikes and you’re out rule.

Students need to arrive promptly for class so everyone attends the warm up at the start of each class in order to avoid injuries.  If you are more than 10 minutes late you will need to warm up before coming into class.

You will find our Terms and Conditions on this page. Please read carefully when joining a class so you are aware of how we operate.

Uniform

The uniform for all classes is the Talent Shack t-shirt and varsity jackets. Musical Theatre students to wear black legging/joggers/dance pants and black jazz shoes or similar.   Drama and Acting students should also wear bottoms they can move in easily. Jeans shouldn’t be worn to any of our classes due to their restriction of movement. Crocs, Ugg boots and sandals are not permitted in class.

Talent Shack and Dance Shack T-shirts (£15) are available to buy at the Shack. Varsity Jackets are currently available. Please order via the shop in Class Manager (website, not app)

Fees

All returning students fees are due on the 1st of each month.  Invoices are emailed out 2 weeks earlier and payment is made via the invoice. We use Stripe for payments.

We are a not for profit Social Enterprise, a CIC (Community Interest Company).  If you can pay full fees, great, we love that. By paying full fees you are helping those that can’t afford to pay. We don’t have shareholders to keep happy, so any profit goes back into our organisation and enables us to offer bursaries and scholarships.

To apply for a bursary place, register and enrol in Class Manager, and you will receive your welcome email. Just mention during that time you would like the bursary application form. It’s a simple form and we don’t ask for personal information. If you can’t afford our classes, we take your word for it, and will support you.

We work out the monthly fees based on the amount of classes in an academic year, September to July, and divide that amount by 11 months. If you can pay in full on receipt of your invoice, brilliant, it really helps us keep on top of bills. BUT, if that doesn’t suit your budget, you can choose at the time of paying each month to pay half, a third, or choose your own amount. As long as the first payment is made by the 1st of the month and the last payment by the end of the month, we’re happy!

We prioritise people over profit.

Tasters

When you register with us, in Class Manager, you can either book a free trial or go ahead and enrol. Either way, your first class is a taster with nothing to pay upfront.  Once you have enrolled we will accept your request (as long as we have space) and will email you a Welcome Email with all the info you need. After that first class, let us know if they wish to continue and we will process your first invoice.

What To Expect

Expect to work hard, make friends and have fun.  Our teachers expect commitment and drive.  You don’t need to be experienced, that’s what the training is for.  Everyones got to start somewhere!  So come prepared to learn but not worried that you don’t know anything, or anyone.  We’re a super friendly bunch and love meeting new people.

What Parents Think

We love hearing what you think about our business.  We can only improve with feedback and good communication.  If somethings not right, tell us quietly and we will deal with it swiftly. If somethings going well please tell us and we will share it here!
