Talent Shack’s Young Company is a group for performers aged 14-21 who are keen to develop their musical theatre training and deepen their knowledge with a view to going to Drama School or uni and furthering their training and career as a performer. 

The first half of the year is spent in rehearsal room mode. September to April will be spent working towards a public performance, learning professional rehearsal room techniques and working as a company to perform an abridged musical with full production values.

Then gears change and May to July we focus on individual development and professional preparation.  From acting through song, repertoire, goal setting, text analysis, script work. Looking at the individual performer and what they need to bring to smash that audition and get into college.

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to work at a drama school level on their skill set to prepare themselves for the Industry or life in general, as performance skills are life skills.

Young Company is led by Director, Dramaturg, and Creative Practitioner, Alice Eklund and Talent Shack Musical Director, David Gibbons. Both are professionals and working currently in their respective fields so in a perfect position to advise the next generation.

Mondays 6.30-9pm

Fees:

Fees are worked out over 11 months, September to July, so you pay the same amount monthly regardless of the amount of weeks in any particular month. Shack classes are £10.97 an hour.  We invoice 2 weeks before the start of each month and payment is to be made on the 1st of each month.  Optional part payment to spread the cost. Once you are registered you will see the monthly fees for each class as they vary according to length of class and amount of classes this year.

Dates:

Our terms run along the Cardiff and Vale school timetable. Saturday Musical Theatre Juniors, Seniors, and Young Professionals plus Carousel Dance do not break for half terms. They do stop for Easter, Summer and Christmas though!

Bursary Places:

100% Bursary places are available for all our group classes. We are looking to support families who could do with some help in the current climate. All we ask is that your child is committed and enthusiastic and family are supportive and willing to bring them each week.  You do not need previous experience.  The identity of those who receive a bursary is confidential and not shared with the team, students or other families.
