The Talent Shack is a 4000 square foot industrial unit that we have turned into a large rehearsal space plus smaller rooms for meetings and classes. In late 2019 we were awarded funding from the National Lottery “People and Places” Fund to enable us to build a theatre within the Shack for school and community use.
Our theatre comprises of a 76 seater retractable seating unit plus lighting rig and PA system.
All our classes take place at The Talent Shack utilising our large stage area. Our students learn how theatre is made as they rehearse and explore in class. What starts off an empty black box space gradually becomes a theatre as the sets are built, costumes are brought down from our extensive store and props are chosen or made. Until finally the lights are plotted, the seats are pulled out and the mics switched on and “theatre” is created.
During covid restrictions we are using our filming equipment to make films of our performances and can be watched back by the students, projected as in a cinema, during class as part of their learning experience.
The Talent Shack can be accessed by school and community groups in a number of ways. We can create bespoke workshops to fit with the curriculum or a particular project and can provide all the creative and technical support required. Schools and groups can also hire the space to create their own work or use the space for an event or show.
The Talent Shack is available to be hired by individual creatives or practitioners looking for a space to work, rehearse, perform.

We are based in Freemans Parc on Penarth Road. Drive through the blue gates at the Hemmels end and past Cash for Clothes, Profitness Gym and CIVS garage and we are round the corner, at the rear of Freemans Parc. We have dedicated parking outside our front door. Access is all on ground level.
